I haven't really had a chance to sit down and listen to as much new music as I would like to lately, the most recent thing I've bought would be the three disc 25th Anniversary Blade Runner soundtrack by Vangelis, there's been a few unsatisfactory "soundtracks albums" of the movie over the years, but this one is pretty definitive.

I quite like Cat Powers recent album SUN, I think it's the best thing she's ever done by miles, this has to get the award for the most low key Iggy Pop cameo ever.

Discovered La Big Vic recently, their stuff is a real mish mash of electronic styles. They fit right in with the current artists like Grimes, Laurel Halo, etc. on some tracks but you can still get a slight 90s Chemical Brothers/2 lone swordsmen/trip-hoppy etc. vibe off off some of their stuff, in a good way.

Last year someone put a thread up about a band from Portland Oregan called Redfang.
I watched a few of the videos and liked what i saw , a few stoners who liked beards , beer and good rock music, with not a hint of pretension or skinny jeans in sight.
I was hooked , well this summer they are playing not one but two gigs in Ireland.
Playing Belfast in the Limelight on Monday the 17th of June , and Tuesday the 18th june in Whelans in Dublin.

I shall be going to the belfast gig if anyone is up for a bit of a session

Have that saved in my youtube favourites and im sure either me or the bro have it on 12" vinyl somewhere. I only copped recently while looking at the movie Total Recall the vocal in that tune is the alien from the film who Arnie meets in the mines. Class tune.

I've just noticed that the album this is from is now on eMusic, it may be from 1979, but it's the best thing I've discovered in ages, an absolutely sublime slice of Afrobeat infused Soul
