Thread: Didn't buy the Buick - Back in a W124 :D

Got a bit of sub 36 degree weather today so took to redoing the b pillar trims, the vinyl had come away from the molding entirely, glue had turned to dust from age and heat!

Headliner will need doing at some stage too!

    Both out!

The yellow stuff is the dust remnants of the glue!

But if acetone to get the old stuff off! Went with gorilla glue for good reviews, whether it'll handle Texas heat remains to be seen!

    Nice and clean!

Final product, hopefully stays taught overnight!

Edit: fecking put one of the belt h é ight adjusters back in upside down doh!

Well not 38 degrees today but 32 and that's supposed to help. Two teeshirts had the dadbod sweat patterns burned into them and got the oil changed out and filter. Oil leak seems to be coming from further up the Blick but there was no sump washer on it and the filter seal was about 25 compromised - a crescent moon vs full seal! So hopefully that'll be some oil leaks sorted!

A bit of lifter tick seems to have gone out of it on the mobil 1 0w40, up to Mercedes 295.3 latest specs for the older diesels and petrol cars apparently!

Arb definitely scraped a few things lol!

Wish it had the bash guard from my old Mercedes coupe!

Filter was manky and virtually no seal up top on cover left!

    It's a good day today!

    Facelift time!

Went with orange bulbs vs chrome ones as it looked a bit washed out!

The chip in the grille has been bothering me for months now, good replacements are 50+ and I had some jb weld and trim paint knocking about and a free evening!

Fair bit of sending but a simple shape thankfully!

    Time to polish the nose!

Best thing I've found to rejuvenate the badges!

    Looking a bit fresher!

Fun times! Great having a car that'll give good mileage, seat four and I can do little bits to!

The only rust (surface rust) I could find on the entire car. Moisture trapped under the carpet in the boot.

A good scratch with a wire brush and lashings of por 15, I'll throw the right color over top of it to tidy it up properly tomorrow hopefully!

Heard some knocking from the front right side over bumps, did a bit of prodding and noticed the strut mount was done!

Ordered a pair for 39$ and threw them on, no more noise!

Both date back to 1989! Even though the car is a 1993!

Lucky I got to it, you can see the cracks forming on opposite side too!

    Let there be light!

uS headlamps are notoriously crap and euro ones are either unavailable for it under 300$ or they're cheaper repros from taiwan. So I went with a pair of Hellas to get home in the dark after work.

I played around with placement a bit and ended up not liking the lower down , too much bracketry going on!

Ended up going to the grille, mounted to underside with bolts and cable ties to the frame for grille. Doesn't move but will probably damage my grille paint job!

And now I can see the edge of kerbs at night !

Wired in with a relay/fuses to the foglight circuit (hence the yellow light).
