iPhone X

Seeing as the internet is full of hyperbole re the iPhone X I thought it might be worth writing a few lines about it seeing as I’m not in need of your clicks.

I ordered it yesterday and got it today. So much for the 5-6 week waiting list.

It looks and works exactly like an iPhone. The design is not really that remarkable. Probably better looking than what came before but not much in it. Don’t expect to be blown away by some future of the phone BS.

It is very very very fast, particularly if you come from an iPhone 6 like I did. It is a night and day difference. Every app just opens immediately.

You’ll learn the new buttonless UI in about five mins. It’s completely intuitive and actually slightly better.

The form factor is much better than the plus models. This and the speed are the most noticeable changes.

Face ID just works. Better than Touch ID in my opinion.

I haven’t used the cameras yet but I expect them to be very good.

The OLED screen is nice but not sure it’s that big a deal.

Using some man math (I'm already spending €30 a month on SIM free so calculated 2y contract delta based on that) I concluded it was cheaper to upgrade than to buy outright. I got it from Three.

I am actually in need of a new phone since I backed the wrong horse and am currently rocking a Lumia 950 on Microsoft Mobile 10 - yes it exists, but apps for it don't!

Had an order on a Pixel 2 XL and then the screen drama happened. Figured it cant be as bad as people made out, but I checked one out and it's pretty bad and the phone is just too big so cancelled that.

So was looking at an X or an Samsung S8 - Realized I need a headphone jack no matter what people think so that moved me toward the S8. Wife has an iphone 7 and the locked down apple eco system would drive me nuts - i despise itunes...

I can get an S8 for half the price of an iphone x unlocked with a VR headset thrown in, so trying to figure out how an iphone x is worth 2 Samsung S8s.....

Answers on a postcard please, or maybe I just gifted at picking the wrong phone...

It's a bad sign when you are on a product when even it's CEO has moved on!
It's a pity, cos it was real nice OS.

Android here I come....I had an andriod years ago, and hope it's gotten a lot better...

I'm sure we'll see plenty of iPhone X's around given the hype - You have to credit them with the marketing and lock in they have achieved.
Only Tesla can get close, and they don't even have a mass market product to ship!

I have a 7+ so wont be changing gor a long long time yet, but if it is anything like the past few iphones there will be shag all difference. I only stay with iphone because they are so easy to use and everything jut works with no drama. They are massively overpriced and of course over hyped, but I'm going to stick with them
