Don't bet your life on this Dave but, due to its age and the fact that there is no VRT charge applicable to it, you'll (hopefully) find that the inspector isn't too fussed about the history of said...

I think the R/O system and the softening plant cost me about €500 at the time. Five years ago.
The yearly servicing is €150 and the softening plant takes one €7 (20kg) bag of salt every two months...
