I recently sold two older racebikes I had a prototype made by Coyote MTB from the late 90s and a Powerlite from mid 90s.

I would say if you want to build a resto mod and are not confident with engineering solutions to non compatible parts then go american. It's a more well worn path with far more available aftermarket....
