      • Testing numbers still on the increase, testing more currently than we ever have to date, 7 day % positive rate now at 14.3% but the rate of decline has slowed in recent days

          • Primary school age group case trend continues to increase quickly followed by the 35 -44 age group. On a positive note, 6 of the age cohorts have shown decreases in the last week

            • 62 discharges yesterday post the normal weekend discharge slow down, but increases in both direct covid admissions and hospital screening new cases yesterday means no change overall in the inpatient situation at 579
Hospital screening cases are accounting for approx 30% of our total hospital covid confirmed inpatients currently

              • So all pretty cool basically. A bit of hospital load but it's that time of year.

If I'm reading this correctly, the boosters aren't having much of an effect on the elders in terms of case reduction. Which is unexpected, I think. Maybe we need to wait for a while to see results.

                • Mark are you saying that of the 580 people in hospital, approx 170-180 of them caught it in there?

                  • They test on entry and they test ongoing so could be either. There is a lot of hospital testing going on.

Not totally, either caught it there or in hospital for other reason and found out they were positive from admission screening.

If I read an article right yesterday, 7000 current confirmed covid cases have been caught in hospitals.

What effect is the now readily available pcr test having on confirmed Numbers?
Again, if I'm reading this correctly, we have had way more people going about their business with covid than has been originally thought.
That must be a good thing.

“Common Travel Area exempt from new UK travel measures”.

“All arrivals into Ireland will need negative Covid test - The requirement for a negative test applies to all arrivals, including those from Great Britain”.

As a weekly UK commuter, I look forward to wasting fifty quid a week on a pointless antigen test to keep NPHET happy… Thankfully the UK are unlikely to reciprocate Ireland’s stance on this.
