Anyone get the hate mail yet? Have a laugh when you see the estimated values the Revenue puts on property. One thing for sure, don't just let it roll and let them collect what they suggest. An example. They have suggested a value of my house which I reckon is about twice its actual value. I'll take a bank transfer please and they can have it.

Interesting... just bought my short term new build house last year and it was exempt from property tax until November this year so we'll see what they value it at.

I nearly fell foul of the Cvnts a few years back, Your wan in the rev office was valuing my house at its current value in 2017 and not when the Tax was introduced which was around half the value. Thread carefully is my advice

Believe me its easy to undervalue but when you come to sell they look for proof as the buyers solicitor will ask for a clearance cert from revenue.

Ive just vhecked and it appears my house which i bought in march is bang in the middle of the estimated band. However the houses worth 2 to 3 times more in the same estimated area are under valued.

We got lucky when we bought our house in 2013 and benefited from the inadvertent exemption for movers so we’ve had a good run… i had a quick look at the revenue site and in fairness their estimated value looks there or there about.

I still can not this triple taxation of people's homes was ever let go through. It boils my piss.

I did the check before and concluded I might actually pay less in this round. Or at worst the same.

yep, My house is in an area where 95% of the houses are close to twice the size of mine...... guess which Value keeps getting suggested??? like you Ming Ill take the bank transfer and run away..... and a house like mine hasn't been sold in years....

Revenue are pretty easy to deal with regarding lpt to be honest. When I sold and needed the clearance cert I contacted revenue on the helpline. They wanted proof of a house of similar age/size etc was worth what I had valued it at. As no houses had sold in a long time locally that matched mine the lady simply went through the property price register and found a house that sold about 7 years ago that matched mine but was about 2 miles away.

I can see issues were people build massive houses in the middle of nowhere and then claim the house is worthless and not comparable.

Worth and value... fcuk em, isn't it ze councils in charge of it.... did rathdown/dunlaoghaire not say they were reducing the lpt in their zone??

We bought our house in 2019 and pay LPT based on that value which must be twice what the neighbours based their LPT on in 2011. They wont thank me when their LPT goes up a whack.
