  • Is Cycling the new Golf?

I know this view has existed for a number of years already but I was out cycling the other day and who did I meet also out cycling but the ex head honcho and previous driving force of one of the now defunct Golf clubs in the county. I was very tempted to say so cycling is the new Golf after all but I thought it might not go down too well so I didn't.

It will not be news to some here that I have/had a distain for the "Golfing set" and their elitist ways but I do not seem to be alone as many Golf clubs have suffered falling memberships while the sport and leisure side of cycling grows all the time - and with that I am off out for a cycle and to sneer at any golfing types I come across.

Is it hard to balance on the bike with such a big chip on your shoulder?

A fella goes cycling, a fella played golf. So what like??

Cycling is the new Golf, Golf is the new Pokemon, Pokemon is the new rock and roll. All clear? Right, let's get on with our lives.

Don't bother with Eco, it's not very nice, leave it in normal & drive it like you just stole it.

So the elitist are talking their elitist ways to the roads, aren’t their enough self entitled bipedlars.... I’ll stick to being miserable on the course and driving around the obstacles on the roads....
I’m standing in a field full of sheep, is it wrong that I feel aroused?? 🤨🤪

I once played foot golf on a stag in Galway While drinking cans of cider.

I’ve no idea how to confirm my social standing on the census form ever since.

You show a frightful ignorance of what constitutes Golf Club members these days. It's a game for all classes and membership has increased quite healthily over the last few years, Covid bringing a big upsurge in playing numbers.
