Working on something with an engine for once, a petrol engine even!!!!!!!

Ok, still not a car, but progress. Rotovator has spent too much time outside over the years and the engine was running like crap and wouldn't shut off with the switch.

Stripped and cleaned up and running a lot better now

Been cleaning regular rugs from the house for a while now .
We had two dogs and cats until recently , 2 kids under 10 and free roaming chickens who aren’t shy of calling in for a shite….
Bought some decent quality gear about 10 years ago, when I went into my regular guy to replace them about two years ago , I was depressed at the quality of what was on offer for the same money.
so after much spot cleaning over the years I said fcuk it and went to town with the multiple tooled up hoovering, power hose , proper detailer spec cleaner & shampoo, drill driver with brush head and then hit with the most powerful leaf blower available to buy ( I reckon drying fast to avoid any damp/rot/smell is key) finally commercial dehumidifier in my timber drying room.

Never mind clean these two that I have in the entrance at work are a totally different colour or shade as the loti fairies would say

Mucho satisfying!

Good quality gear is built to last so don’t be afraid to hit it hard now and again to bring it back.

Doing rust repairs on my 74 2002.Really happy with how this went.
This time 6 months ago I'd be shitting myself facing a job like this ! Now i'm looking forward to doing the other side !

The sill didnt look bad except for a collapsed jacking point. When I removed the jacking point for repair I was greeted with this.

The bottom of the A pillar, sill & lower rear quarter had to come off to repair the lower part of the C pillar.

New Sill & quarter offered up.

That weld across the the quarter is the only exterior weld (both sides)I need to do on the car so I was shitting it.
Needs a bit more grinding but I think its going to disappear with a smidge of filler.

unfortunately the rust line continues into the rear arch so I'm getting stuck into that now.

Something pretty petty..... I was clearing out some stuff from my folk's attic and came across a box of emblems that I collected over the years. So mounted some on scraps of wood and stuck them on my garage wall.

Why I do not know what you mean?!?
In fairness alot were given to me over the years, and some are from my cars or my Dad's cars over the years. And shamefully, one or two are "collected" from when I was a kid. A mate's Dad was an engineer, so the Rolls Royce is solid stainless steel from a jet engine at Dublin airport. I think an engine from a BAC 111 as far as I remember. Jensen is from the Interceptor that I had.

The Mustang is just from an old calendar. But the Lysander is an official military archive photograph, stamped and registered on the back etc. My uncle was in the RAF, and he was building a diesel powered model in the 1960s, so he gathered all the info together to keep it accurate.
I have his diesel engines (a 1cc and a 2.5cc two stroke diesel) that he gave me also. As well as the plans for the Lysander model.

That is some talent you have sir
