  • **update**

I wanted to cry today. I was removing the old p/s front wheelbearing and was aware that the abs sensor can get caught in the process so I was being extremely careful. Unfortunately, when it was just out it caught the plastic sensor and bent it. I ended up having to remove the sensor as it was damaged and that involved drilling it out. Gutted. Priced a new sensor up from Nissan at €343+ vat with a 2-3 week wait. 😭

while it looks intact here, its bent forward and slightly twisted

The remains as it broke apart easy

    The sensor finally out

i'll have to try figure out were to get an abs sensor from. They are extortionately expensive from Nissan and the only other real option is cheap chinese ones which id rather not use as it could cause me a serious headache but ill keep looking.

    Heres an oem sensor

    • I never used them personally but these or Megazip are worth a try.

Also see the part is OEM.

Yeah I seen that on amayama. Probaly be around €200 by the time customs etc which isnt too bad but i'm putting it back on the road next week and was planning to head for a decent spin next weekend with a few of the lads but it won't arrive in time for it 😭. I find stuff on Amayama takes around 4 weeks to arrive.

        • That's a balls about the sensor, but it's so easy to happen. Anyway, I don't want to get your hopes up too much, but there's a chance I have one in the garage somewhere, although it'll be Thursday night before I can get down there to have a look for it. It's not an OEM sensor (can't remember the brand) but it might get you out of a tight spot for now if I can find it.

Gent! That would be fantastic, it would buy me some time and sure I can just buy an oem on from the likes of amayama. At the same time, no pressure if you can't find it, I might even just buy the €50 spurious one until I get a oem one.

            • I presume since its a newer car you cant just drive away normally without it? It uses the ABS for TC and stuff like that so it goes into some sort of limp mode?

Some good news... I got the missus to have a look for it where I thought it would be, and she found it. She said the brand on the box is ABS. It's in Galway if you need it immediately, or I'll be back up in Dublin next Tuesday if that's any good to you. Drop me a pm and we'll arrange something.

Haha no way fair play i didn't think you'd get back to me so quickly! 😂😂

I spoke to a few owners on the UK GTR facebook page and they all said they bought them sensors too with no issue. I was up at like 7am this morning searching for one and managed to order one of the same ABS brand sensors from Germany and paid for express postage and its due to arrive either Friday or Monday. Really appreciate the help! I might take you up on that offer if this other sensor is late or something goes wrong? And sure whatever it is, just let me know and I can paypal you 👍

Yeah the dash would light up like a christmas tree if the sensor was missing 😂

                      • Did you try any of the nissan dealers in the north? They can be quicker and cheaper sometimes.

Long long ago I needed a Xenon headlight for my Pathfinder. €1100(supply only) in ROI, £440 (fitted).

I put a post up on the R35 GTR owners facebook page over a sensor and no one buys the oem ones. They all buy the cheaper ones. I even rang litchfield and they only had one in stock.

The new sensor arrived friday morning and quality seems decent. I'm going to fit it and the bearing on Tuesday.

                            • So i got the bearing on and the sensor fitted today. Just have to torque the hub nut up and fit new split pin in. In order to plug the new abs sensor in, I had to strip the arch liner out.

As you see, theres notch in the wheel bearing to allow the abs sensor in.

I bought 200 new clips and start replacing all the damaged/missing clips.
