Yes, very cool image. I like how the cars are going to be easily identifiable this year by their color scheme. Last year the Astons Martins and Mercedes were too close together color wise to tell apart in a hurry.

Really striking how high all the noses are off the ground. From the front the Red Bull looks like an outlier in that regard but that may not be so.

Yes, because the lower the nose is, the more it upsets the air-flow underneath the car which is critical to getting the ground-effect working well.

They are currently having problems with the front of the car bottoming out on the ground, which upsets the air-flow which kills the ground-effect, which causes the car to rise, which solves the disrupted air-flow, causing the ground-effect to re-engage, which causes the front of the car to bottom out which starts the whole cycle again.

called 'porpoising' (for how porpoises dive in and out of the water as they move along), its going to be the most overused phrase in F1 this season...

But they figured it out in the past (or at least how to manage it) so I expect it will get figured out over the next few weeks how best to deal with it.

Yeah Vettel was out today saying he wont be going anyway if it is on.
I always liked Vettel but he has really shown over the last while that he's a really clued in and sound fella. No airs or graces with him at all.

I very much doubt the FIA will be venturing over to Russia.

New driver experience for 2022, see who can drive the furthest before having to pull
                      over and start throwing up....

Edit: Would that sort of car reaction not have been evident in the wind tunnels they all use?

Double Edit: Just reading this explains why its less likely to be experienced on the belt of a rolling road.

And the Ferrari is meant to be one of the cars better handling the porpoising!!

To my eyes the Redbull looks unfinished. Redbull are normally the team which goes to the biggest lengths to hide parts of their car using trick paintwork, but this version looks very rough, like they only put it together overnight! You can even see the rivets (or whatever they're called)!

I think you can see that both Merc and Redbull cars are evolutions on last years car. At first glance the Redbull looks radically different but:

If the 2021 car's sidepod intake was sculpted down towards "Honda", to my untrained eyes, it looks extremely like the 2022 car which has a very simplified bargeboard!

Moreover, it also strikes me that the Rebulls sidepod is tiny. Are they so confident regarding the Honda's power and cooling? If they find the Honda engine is down on power or needs more cooling, they cannot exactly do anything with the sidepods as it would impinge upon the new tunnel floor they've got

Supposedly the Honda is more powerful than last years even with the E10 fuel and with RB supposedly more in control of the PU settings than the more conservative Honda mindset, they’ll be happy to push the boundaries of the PU more.

It may look unfinished, but supposedly it is one of the more daring designs out there:
                            https://www.racefans.net/2022/02/24/...signs-of-2022/

There are so many different solutions, the Merc tiny side pods, the Ferrari baby seats and the wide Red bull ones...
and then there is the ground effect tunnels, of which we can see nothing.
At least F1 might be an interesting year.

Looks like Haas will have to say goodbye to Mazepin and his fathers big sponsorship of the team because his father has a lot of close ties to Putin.

And the Russian GP has been canned as well.

Good, no accommodations should be made for the Russians.

Hopefully Haas can keep going without being affected too badly, with the new cost cap and prize money they should in theory be able to actually start making money now
