Heating system is a bit drunk at times but other than that pretty much as good as it gets for a 15 yo car

Did you get that for less than 2k? What a bargain. Irelands tax system really did shaft car owners back in 08.

I actually got given it for nothing but the promise to use it and take care of it, so 100% less than 2 grand but kinda cheating I suppose

They actually form part of the crash protection structure.

Great thread! The 2002 RX300 above is my daily shed - some of you on here may have seen it over the years. I bought it 10 years ago for 700 euro and have since put up nearly 200,000km on it. I have been all over Europe in it - it spent all of last year in Switzerland so the Swiss winter was a bit hard on it and the underside is suffering a bit on it now. It has about 350,000km on it at this stage and keeps going strong! I love the comfort of it and the the 3.0 V6 petrol engine is fantastically reliable.

Agreed, that is some seriously pocket friendly motoring there x19dude.

I'm pretty useless at maths but that must be a great return on your money.

Another pic from a few years ago- A Rainy day in Mondello towing my old 106gti for a " trackdays" trackday. In fairness to it - it owes me nothing at this stage and I keep it going for a relatively small amount. It has towed cars all over the country as well and helped me move house ( filled up a horsebox with boxes and beds a few times over!)

The eagle eyed amongst you may notice in the first picture ( above) that it has lights under the front grill ( green / medical lights) because I also used it quite a bit as a CMO - first responder vehicle on rally stages all over the country - Basically - everything Motorsport wise I have been involved in has involved this yolk in some shape or form! It has been sideways on rally stages , had all 4 wheels off the ground on several occasions and towed several crashed cars out of ditches. It has lots of stonechips ( or battle scars from rally stages.

Long story short - this is one bargain basement 4 x 4 vehicle that has definitely lived a life outside of the Tesco carpark unlike most Lexus.

There was actually - it was traded into a garage and had been sitting under fir trees for 2 years with a gearbox fault and 4 flat tyres. I said to the garage I would take it if it started - to which they said OK!! It started on a jump start first time and drove down the road. The fault turned out to be a stuck solenoid for 4th gear. A good wash in the local petrol station got rid of about 2 inches of tree sap from the paintwork. I still have the solenoid that was stuck and have now fixed it to use as a replacement just in case!

cool, remind me of a thread on MX5nuts where a guy got a non starting non running from a garage who had gave up on it. He bump started it in gear on the starter motor and drove onto his transporter and off into the sunset.....
