I was behind a girl in an M3 a few years back, and the reg was something like "M3 SLUT"
We all stood around in a circle naked, thrusting our clinched fists in the air screaming "Jap Power!!"

How's that for a crazy memory from 1977?
Not pedantic at all. It was of course an Alfetta and was still red in mid-80’s Dublin, but sadly it was also very brown and frilly around the edges

I can only assume by this stage that buyers of personal plates must be afficionados of cryptic crossword clues - but clearly not very good at it

That's actually a game often played by Mrs_XB & I in Melbourne traffic... guess what the plate means

Back when I was living in NZ in the late 90’s there was a car I’d see all the time in Wellington that had the plate 6UL-DV8
