  • Yeah I had a bearing go in my old A4 years ago and the bearing noise got so bad, I could barely hear the radio and contemplated getting ear muffs I was broke back then so I left it go for a couple thousand miles. It was silly loud... still no play in the wheel when I finally did change it.

One thing to look out for, if it's a front bearing, the noise will change when turning left and right... easiest way to determine a side as it can be much harder to differentiate where the noise is coming from on newer cars with all the modern sound deadening

    • I think its the left side, loaded up on a fast right hand corner it seems to quieten down, as for front or rear - not a clue. Not surprised with the state of teh roads, holes. viscous speed ramps etc. They'd break anything.

If it was the rear it wouldn't really change the noise. That sounds like a front left as I've always found the bearing that is toeing out will noise more

        • Can these screws be got. I know there are rivet and screw things that can be used instead, but I'd rather fit these instead. Have welder, will weld.

Look up stud welders, there is a welding machine for welding them.

Wasn't too sure, Rick is using the Japanese Komatsu

The Volvo rock truck , I cannot think of anything similar from another manufacturer
CAT have the equivalent diggers to Volvo

Had a quick google, Volvo allegedly only started to sponsor from Season 3 , reduced leasing rates in return for advertising

Was curious if they are the go to manufacturer for mining

                      • Depending on which of the two front tyres listed it is, 32/32 possibly?

                        • Front Really depends on the tyre, I'd guess 2,9 i assume you're not on an M+S tyre.

Normal road tyre, type of tyre is irrelevant, same pressure as far as I can see fir 3 people

I think for that kind of mining, where dedicated roads to each site are too expensive to build, the off-road capabilities of the articulated and 6x6 Volvos are just far superior to any rigids they have access to.
