it’s a private sale on DoneDeal but before I make contact has anyone found this before?
I’m aware that sometimes the VRT office can make errors,
but this car is 10years old, and has been in the country since at least 2019, so I’d be surprised it hasn’t been noticed and rectified already.

if it’s a genuine mistake how could it be rectified,
engineers report or just a visit to Tax/VRT office?
how did you perform a check

I did a history check , depending on who you use, you could have a discrepancy in information flagged with one and not with the other; they are all using their own private database Irish National Mileage register (INMR)
    Irish National Mileage Database (INMD)
    National Mileage Register (NMR)

In my instance the car mileage discrepancy was triggered Irish National Mileage register (INMR) (Motorcheck) , it was not flagged on the National Mileage Register (NMR) , Cartell

It is misleading to called them the Irish National Mileage, National Mileage ; giving the illusion they are state controlled and I made the mistake of thinking it was one source they all feed from, naming convention is similar across the board

As you say, be good to get info before you even make contact as, ideally, you would buy something different if it sounds like a lot of hassle.

If you do make contact though (and I'm sure you know this already), have a good auld read over the logbook. Again, I'm sure I'm preaching to the choir but if it's missing or there's a weird story involved it might be worth looking elsewhere.

My panamera diesel came up as a 911 Carrera 2 on all checks - including the VLC and the NCT.

How did you remedy it can I ask?

it’s a 520d touring, but the reg in Cornmarket Insurance site, my own insurance website, Micks garage and the NCT site all say it’s a 320d saloon.
I haven’t done a paid check yet, but it seems to me to be incorrectly registered since it’s first registration. (Or maybe an incorrect plate.)
But as it’s a 2012 I’m wondering how it hasn’t been noticed at this stage.

            I never did...

Mine was a 2012 also.. a quick check now shows up correct for Mick's garage etc - and no mainstream insurance company would cover it anyway..

But motortax.ie and nct both show it as a 911

              .

Check that the VIN match’s what’s on the vehicle, we commonly see mix ups, ie the apprentice was given a handful of number plates and sent out to put them on cars and ends up mixing some up.

                        • AFAIK no NOX, Vat applies, 13.5% if the car is original and 23% if modified.

When it comes to paying for it, will paying by debit card be fine? Buying from a dealer that is. She's talking about spending in or around €7,000 and was wondering if she uses her debit card is there any restrictions on the transaction? AIB if it makes a difference.

As an update to this, for various reasons she bought and paid for the car up North during the week using her AIB card. Now she has a student account, and it turns out that there was a limit of €7,000 on a terminal payment. Anything more and she had to contact the bank and provide other sorts of information.
Anyway, maybe because she was using a student account, the charge on the transaction was something like €4.00. As in, the GBP to EURO rate on the day was applied, and 4 Euro for the exchange rate fee added.

Either way, thanks for the help we got here.

                              • Heading to mainland Europe next week and have my insurance documents and log book here but no NCT cert - car is NCT'd and have the disk in the window.
Now is the disc in the window enough or do I need the cert with me also?
