Taxing a car that has been declared off the road

I'm thinking of declaring the learner car we have off the road as there are so many delays in driving lessons and test etc.
It's isn't much but better my my pocket.

When you want to tax it again, can you do it online or do you have to go into an office? If the latter I'm not sure I'll bother with the whole thing.

You can do it online using the last 6 digits on top corner of registration cert. Tax will commence from the 1st day of whatever month it is

Or do a forgot PIN-it gets emailed to you very quickly.

Yep just tax the car and it is automatically put back on the road at any time, regardless of how long you declare it off the road. If the car is already out of tax, you will have to tax it first before declaring it off the road as it needs to be done before the tax runs out

Online, from first day of month in which you do it. So try and do at the start of the month.

Yeah can all be done online, at 5 minutes to midnight last day of month to declare off the road and as Ming says, 1st day of month to tax.

Ya just dont forget about it and a year later it gets sent to your old postal address and you now have to change owners when you eventually want to use it. Pity they don't do a period of "declared otr for the foreseeable future"
