Can anyone in the know clear up the confusion surrounding the dates for the Historics this year?
I'm hoping to travel down and so looking for accomodation.

That was a shitshow with dates to be fair. Very nearly caught me out as I had it booked from months back and had to change.
Headed back for 1 stage. Watched it close to stage finish for the gap. My brother and I were laughing, years ago if we saw a sierra cosworth on the stages we'd have zero interest. Funny how things change over the years
I couldn't make it in the end and am absolutely gutted, especially seeing the pictures of the Galant VR4 WRC car....
Anyone any video or photos of it at all please?

What an incredible event, and the 1st time I actually felt excited for a rally event in Ireland in years. Myself and the buddy landed into Molls Gap at 3pm on Friday, so a casual 19 hours before 1st car, but with a good group of campers, a few BBQ's going and a few drinks, it was a great night that made it feel like it could have been Monte Carlo we were camped out for.
Just for you Miller;

I think Greer had already loaned him a diff at that point ?
He did, i've no evidence of this theory whatsoever but id say there was some noise starting to creep into the rear end which obviously Breen and the crew probably understandably guessed it was a diff starting to give, replaced it, and then the shaft gave up warming up from Time control to the start line.
looking back now, I think that maybe, every now and again, I should have braked a little earlier
it was an absolutely epic event as usual, one of the best.
this event and its stages is some battle of attrition for these type of cars even with just 7 stages, the retirements are always significant. to be honest its a real bug bear of mine that these cars with all the historic regulations are allowed run modern 9" slicks, they should have historic tyres for this type of rallying like goodwood historic racing tyres. This has alot to do with so many drivetrain failures, especially on a dry event.
Shame to see alot of works historic cars not making it.
Anyway, what an event. weather was perfect, no wind or rain, awesome entry and line up, just unreal. only problem is its over too quick!!
i got scrutiny for the day Friday, then walked up to the start line for molls gap, then got 3 and 6. what an event

Could not agree more about the tires, but they always claimed safety. Nothing at all about all the extra speed they can carry!
You'd never see a modern class 13/14 spinning ofc the line now, i really don't know how shafts and clutches take it.
The pace of the modified stuff is mental, when you consider Jonny Greer in the Sierra would have only been, 8th or 9th i think overall if they ran them all as the same field.

well, alot of the times they dont! its ridiculous in my opinion, unless the driver is very committed, they just bog down on hairpins. a historic remake of the DUNLOP A2 for tarmac events would be so good.
I've zero interest in top modifieds tbh , do nothing for me. they're only escort roof skins and taillights, (sometimes!)
