Sorry for the delayed notice this week, my little lad ended up in A&E. All good though.

Anyway, this week I take a drive in an old battered Merc C180 that was given to me by the previous owner. Mechanically perfect, interior perfect but the body has one, two or three dents on it.

If anyone has a passenger door in the right colour I'd be very grateful for a donation.

Fair play to you John. Takes a lot of time and energy to create the scripts and conceptualize all these videos. Getting the lighting right, takes and retakes and all teh other things that conspire against you with shooting these

I will point out however I couldn't take any drive by shots of the car as after filming the last talking segment the wind blew over my tripod and broke my phone screen. It cost me €300 to replace and completely wiped out the money I'd put aside to buy a proper camera and mount for the windscreen. Such is life but I do hope people will bear with me. New baby arrival (human kind not motoring) in Jan means money is wiped out for the forseeable future.

I have however fully solved the sound quality but you need to wait to videos to hear it!

And on the plus side, peoples generosity with giving their cars still continues!

Now LIVE on John's Garage, this weeks video walk around and drive of an original 2001 Lexus LS 430 'Ultra' which was a very rare special order including a personalised reg plate. Also the owner is looking for a little help to try to identify the original owner of the car who placed the special order for such a rare model.

TWO IMPORTANT UPDATES:

I'm going to try and go back to weekly videos next week with a focus on car models and a little history on them every second week. If there is any you'd like me to focus on let me know, I'm going to start with a few cars I've already featured. This won't be anorak stuff but thought it would be interesting all the same. I'm also happy to build it around videos of viewers cars or pictures. I've reached out to people on YouTube to be allowed use their videos and vintage ads for the cars with little response so trying to get around that issue.


I'd also like to give a little space for people based in Ireland who offer specialist service in the motor trade. I'm thinking people who can refurb rare parts, 3d print parts, refurb the chrome finish on headlights, rechrome body parts, retrim interiors etc. I'm hoping to give 30-60 slots where you tell us what you do and how you can be contacted.

I've noticed a lot of people asking online about these things who would have normally sent parts to the UK but since Brexit this has been an issue. I'm hoping the solutions can be highlighted here at home to help them.

I don't want anything for this happy to give the space to help if people want to take advantage of the offer.

Enjoyed the LS review. What an amazing car. One thing I love about 90s and early-00s Lexus’ is how good they look and feel inside even after huge mileage.

I read ages ago, on boards I think, that Toyota Ireland registered the first LS400 (90-LS-400) and the first LS430, the above car (01-LS-430), in Laois specifically for the plate.

For a car that looks far from special on the outside there is just something about them.

Great idea re people/companies who can restore cars and parts.
It would be great to get an inside and idea of what companies are out there.
If you watch Harry's Garage it was great to see the companies he used to restore his cars,love to see something like that for here.

From personal experience it can be pretty hard finding a place that is interested in doing a good restoration job and you can trust them to do it right.
