Yea I thought of it straight away when I saw the add but I thought it was €7k, either way I'm sure 5 would have lifted it

Would you have spent another 25 on rust repair?

      • Yes, I do remember one in particularly good nick which took an age to sell at low money. Another memory that sticks out from back when was a decent low mileage Z3M roadster on DD for €4.5k.

Was that a Z3M down in Cork or Kerry?

if it's the same one, it was a 2002 3.o in Cork - the seller bought it as a barn find and recommissioned it - low mileage and appeared from photos to be in good condition -I enquired - definitely one I regret not buying. Again, from memory, a guy in Meath bought it and put it back up for sale for 6/7k on collecting cars - think it went to the UK

That’s a different car again. It was up for sale but he still has it.

It was a blue one in Carlow. Now that I think of it, I believe an Octaner bought and flipped it.

I do remember a black Z3M down in Cork some time later alright.

Ah, I stand corrected - is he still looking to sell it?

Still a huge amount for an 8v Mk3. Even in that condition.

                          Crazy money I'd have thought.

                          A 97 8v Mk3 GTI was last worth €14.5k in circa 1998

                          • Could the mk3 8v be argued to be the worst ever Golf gti?

Have you driven a Mk 4 GTI?

A MK4 Gti is worse imo.

Mk3 has a bit of character about it.
