  • 3.5k budget for something fast and fun, suggestions?

As the title says, open to all suggestions, doesn't need to be a daily or practical just fun and fast, maybe with the potential for a trackday or 2

Perhaps something like an Alfa Romeo GTV or Spyder might suit?

Mazda MX5, NA, NB or NC could be an option for fun?

A Mk 5 Golf GTi would be pretty fast but there's something fun about the convertibles..

Mazda RX-8 would be a good option if you are willing to put up with the petrol bills. You would get a good one within budget.

Nissan 350z are out of budget and I think 2.5L Z4s are out of budget too?

    Clio 172 / 182 could be a good shout?

R53 Mini Cooper S. I'm on my second one now and I don't think there is a better car for the money. You'd pick up a decent enough one for that budget too, considering it's going to be tracked. I'd look in the UK, though. Everything here seems high mileage with no service history and ragged. The supercharger whine is addictive, they're fairly reliable (once maintained properly, but that goes for a lot of cars I suppose), they look good and they're some craic!

You could also pick up an NB MX-5, as mentioned above, and do a good few modifications to it, and still have pint money left over.

I recently bought an rx8 as a fun/track car. They're very cheap and with that budget you'd have money left for some upgrades. Depends what you consider fast though.

I'm not sure it's road legal... but https://www.donedeal.ie/modifiedcars...ckday/25854437

                  Civic Type R ? https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sal...ype-r/25965753
Any car that merely takes you from A-B does not go far enough.

A mk3 MR2 with a 2ZZ conversion should just be in that price range

Thing is with cheap fun cars is that you may need to put money into them once you buy them, so just bear that in mind with the budget to have a few quid aside to do some maintenance.

I've been dithering about changing my suzuki swift sport for a more practical second car if you thought that might tick your box.
