  • Backroads Picnic

As I was driving to work this morning and enjoying the near deserted ribbon of tarmac on my country road commute it suddenly dawned on me to turn off the doom and gloom filtering through the speakers, forget all talk of the apocalypse and just enjoy the 6 pot soundtrack. Be in the moment and enjoy one of my favourite pass times. Then I realised now is possibly the best time to be a petrol head. Think about it... loads of talk about social spacing and public interactions, people staying at home not clogging up the roads. If a group of like minded folk were so inclined, they could meet up on a mountain pass, let’s say Sunday at 8am, and enjoy their pass times in wide open fresh air or cocooned in the confines of there own machine while admiring others being put through their paces. That’s were I will be on Sunday morning....

Funnily enough I was thinking the same last night! That would be class!
We all stood around in a circle naked, thrusting our clinched fists in the air screaming "Jap Power!!"

I was gonna start a general hooning thread given the exact circumstances described above, but held off posting as I'd had a few and didn't want to be slated by the doom merchants for being blase or daring to get on with life.
Conditions would have to be described a rife, presumably traffic corps & gosafe lads also get corona and you'd imagine in this early stage of we're all doomed, folks will be off the roads

If you're coming up with one in your neck of the woods I'd consider that as well. Ain't no better place for a bit of spirited driving.

That's actually not a bad shout given I may have some unexpected availability over the next while - you'd have to make your own breakfast mind DMZ

The conditions for the sub 1hr Dublin - Galway motorway run attempt are approaching optimal.

Where is this likely to happen? I too would like to partake.
