  • DB12 - the solution to your midlife crisis?

Aston Martin on the outside, Porsche on the inside, and Mercedes underneath. It is a pretty thing tbf.

They have made a big song and dance about the interior but I wonder if the Porsche/Audi vibe really cuts it at this price level. And no V12 confirmed either.

They're claiming it's the world's first super tourer in the advertising, what exactly is the difference between it and all of its predecessors?

God knows but I’m just happy it’s not ugly like everything else these days and it has a V8. Maybe that’s enough to qualify as a super tourer?

Aston Martin is proud to introduce the new DB12. Delivering a quantum shift in sporting character and dynamic capability, this new generation of the legendary DB bloodline defines its own new category. Combining a scintillating driving experience with exceptional refinement, state-of-the-art technology and indulgent luxury, the DB12 demands a new definition. Grand is not enough; this is the world’s first Super Tourer.

Spotted a white NI Reg one of these going past on the motorway last week - must say they are an exceptionally good looking car in the flesh. Muscular and compact looking thing, with the rear haunches looking just about wide enough to hold the wheels.

If I lived in the UK and/or had a corporate lease contract covering the annual maintenance/parts bills, I could be tempted

That’s a DBS I believe? Which is indeed an astoundingly good looking car. It looks like they have taken design cues from the DBS and applied it to the DB12, which is no bad thing.

I defer to your superior knowledge on these my good man - I lost the ability to even tell the difference between some of the Shaguar GT cars and Astons quite a while ago alas.

^ Which incidentally probably mustn't be seen as a.good.thing by the AM marketer types.

I like that this exists and as against say a Roma, perhaps would jump for this. It's not really a thing in Ireland. It will be as rare as carbon fibre hens' teeth for all the obvious reasons. And it will no doubt cost €400k if landed.

I haven't kept up with who owns who for the last few years. So are they using Porker/ Merc bits now?

That is a pretty and yet aggressive looking car.
We all stood around in a circle naked, thrusting our clinched fists in the air screaming "Jap Power!!"

Tbh I think what you posted was the DB10 concept which I think made it into the DBS more or less. Trust me, I'm as lost as anyone on these cars. And as Ming just mentioned, they will be non-existent anyhow unless they show up on a yellow plate at the airport or something.

They're using AMG engines and they're quite inspired by Porsche interiors by the looks of things but I think it's all theirs on the inside now technically speaking.

It’s not, according to my DEGIRO, a solution to the shares I bought in 2021 when the world thought they couldn’t get even lower.

A healthy 76.71% loss since purchase. Assumed Laurence Stroll and Toto Wolff owning shares was a recipe for a nice V8 Vantage. So far, they wouldn’t even pay for a 1/43 model.
