  • new Lambo Aventador replacement

As my review of the 296 will reveal, while I don't care about the propulsion system for a $hitter, hybrid can really work for a sports car. This looks like a proper piece of work. The dream is not dead or made of fridge for a few years yet.

It’s very nice but why is it a hybrid? For some extra power? Because hybrids are trendy? It’s cool that they have continued with a naturally aspirated V12 but not sure why it needs batteries and complexity. 800-something bhp from the V12 alone seems like plenty.

It gives EV like acceleration, I believe.

Yeah I guess you need that initial EV surge to be cool these days. Nobody wants to be beaten at the lights by some Tesla for a tenth of the price.

          It's a hybrid to get the €170 p/a tax

Nope. It will be in max tax land. It’s a performance hybrid, not a CO2 fudging hybrid. Unfortunately.

I think everyone forgets that the big three hyper cars were all hybrid, LaFerrari, P1, 918, hybrid has proven itself, the issue is as always, can they mask all the added weight and the answer is yes, suspension damping etc have come on “leaps and bounds” to facilitate this. McLarens’ Artura is hybrid now iirc and the forgotten NSX, which didn’t make the headlines much when released is making headlines now as a decent second hand buy....

Front end in that pic looks like the modern NSX.
