Saabs used to have optional sunroof deflectors too, but I don’t think these ever caught on elsewhere

Haven’t seen a rear window louvre for a while either

Oh, and another pre AC 80s thing, huge "weather deflectors" on the windows so you could open up and let the air flow without it coming into your face I guess. Sorry if mentioned before, kinda missed this thread, but honorable mention to the big sun visor too.

oh, i always thought it was a back massage device. Now that you say it, I remember heaps of 1980s ford falcon and hold commodore taxi drivers having these in Perth! doh!

A lot of lads were suffering from back pain back the day from manual work and they swore by these when sitting in a car for a while. Not much adjustment available in car seats then either.

Pins and clips holding down bonnets.

A small boot rack was all the go for a while.

Covering the headlights with the yellow Lukazade wrapper.

spotlight on the rear for reversing ( or blinding your mates when driving in front of them)

Been ages since I saw one.
Knew I'd spotted them somewhere recently - one of the local filling stations has them.

I used to keep the removable face in the glove box until someone pointed out that was the first place a crim would look, so instead I then took to leaving the glovebox empty and open all the time, making it redundant.

This was probably my favourite though, a rebranded Blaupunkt as fitted to my old E30 Alpina. From a time when they hadn’t quite figured out things, it had a single CD cartridge that had to be load each time you wanted to change disc

Man, that's cool. I'd love one for myE34 today.
I have a pop-off Sony thingy in there from the early 2000's that someone definitely thought was the dogs :D:D:D:D:D:D at the time.

No need, stick the old Rolla on trays/hubcaps and off you go

I've never owned anything with a stereo newer than the 2000s era of Sony Xplod etc.

I'd have to really love a car before I'd buy one with an LCD screen to risk the chance of causing serious issues when I ripped it out to upgrade to a proper stereo.
Man that is seriously cool! Conntrols to route the love tunes straight to the back!

That is actually mental that all of that sound tech was available in 1979, let alone in a car stereo! I think that the first digital tuner that I seen was in the mid to late 1980s here. And the tape decks didnt have auto reverse yet either.

I did have one of these on my van at one stage. The king of (roll-the-dice/N-Cap -5) aftermarket steering wheels.

Not just aftermarket steering wheels, but a dished wheel too! You don't see those these days, but I thing that might be safety related? something to do with not getting impaled on the steering column?
