Please tell me when you say "€8500 a plate" you don't mean €8500 X 2?! Unless you're talking purchase price....

The VRT was €17k I assume.

Yeah unfortunately that was just for the VRT, €16994 to be exact. I'm in the process of appealing it, so hopefully I should get a bit back. The joys of importing a big V8 that's not on the VRT calculator.

          Sweet Jesus!!

          What a bloody system.

Well I hope you get to enjoy every mile you drive in it after handing that amount of money over for a couple
          of number plates.

17k would probably be a 25% deposit on some backwater places in the UK

Jaysus, thought it would be bad but not that bad. Crazy that the W205 C63S can come in significantly lower than that on the calculator? Or could that be due to emissions or something as (I believe?) those are a lower road tax etc?

Going by W204 C63 prices on donedeal I had a fair idea it was going to be between €14k-20k, so it didn't come as big a surprise. That still doesn't make it any easier handing over a big ball of cash for essentially nothing in return.

Yeah the W205 is still on the calculator, so significantly less, but I'd imagine it's only a matter of time before they review them like they did the F80 M3 last year, or worse remove them from the calculator all together.

I for some reason always figured there was just major gouging going on on donedeal/in Ireland on them, but that all makes a lot of sense now. Particularly the facelifts in the high 30's-mid 40's. The sound though, makes up for some of it at least!

If the car is 41% VRT band then you can argue that your purchase price (including ferry to Ireland) is equivalent to 59% of the OMSP.

(Only if this helps your claim, obviously)
