Not much to report on the 850, declared the car off the road at the tail-end of last year and left it in the lock up on a trickle charger. I try and pop out every 3-4 weeks just to check up on the cars and run them up to temperature but she was starting to look unloved and I temporarily took a wobble and stuck up a for sale thread when the Alpina was incoming but with the new arrival away getting work and cars and coffee on ir was the perfect excuse to get it out for a blast.

    Looking sorry for itself:

And a few from cars and coffee

I forgot just how good this thing is to drive and how cool it is to look at........ easy to forget when something else shiney comes alone and its stuck in storage so now as it stands the garage has a 5,6,and 8 cylinder in it so that's me done for a while........ I hope.

I spotted a lovely '00 reg S70 T5 in traffic today & then learned that not all T5s are 2.3L, this one was 2L. The estate gets all the touring car cred, but I always liked the saloon, theres something nice about the proportions

I remember a smashing yellow 850 T5R saloon with dark grey wheels knocking around the place when I was in school. My dad had a 460 at the time. This particular T5 looked like it was turned up to eleven. Which it was really!
Cheers its definitely a keeper. I do love the saloon but it was always the estate that I wanted. Took it to work today to give spice up the commute......sun shining, 5 pot sound track..... bliss 😊

Have just been putting up miles on the 850 lately and it has just clicked over 160k. Had a rattle coming from the rear and discovered one of the rear pad retaining clips missing so replaced the clips and pins and while I was there cleaned the wheel arches.

Really solid underneath and has been undersealed before but might go full hog on cleaning the underside and have it minty fresh but I'll wait until I take it off the road for the winter.

This weekend was a bitter sweet one with the W124 going to a new home it was the ideal excuse to take the 850 out since it is just back from having a timing belt, water pump and cam and crank seals (not leaking but made sense while belt was off). Belt was said to be done 15k miles ago but couldn't find a receipt of the work so for peace of mind had it done using all genuine parts.

Had to take a picture while it was parked at slane Castle today...... Definitely a car that makes me take a second glance when walking away from it 😂

I would definitely recommend the exhaust and the chipped ecu absolutely transformed the car. Some lads have gone down the route of bigger turbos etc, cant see myself messing with it too much now its plenty quick but the I would def look into the exhaust.

    Nice 👌👍

Very cool, such a good colour as well, not used to seeing a volvo estate not covered in shite with 7 kids wedged into it!
