So the block is opened and it looks like the water seals were cooked, coolant jacket failed.
I'll get some photos up soon, courtesy of Anthony in shadow rotary.

Is that a worst case scenario or what??
I’m standing in a field full of sheep, is it wrong that I feel aroused?? 🤨🤪

Coming along nicely. Can't wait to see it back together dropping 11's from every set of traffic lights. When is it ready for collection?

So spent a bit of time in Shadow rotary this morning.

                Rotors ok.
2 plates to be replaced, as the water temperature sensor was botched at some stage. Water seals toasted and corroded the plates.

Repair kit near landed and should be end of next week for completion.

Really looking forward to my 1st drive in an Rx-7, ever.

Saw this in Flip's story actually. The wait will be a pain but at least you know it'll be sorted for the future.

No thank god. In fairness it was bad news, but Anthony was great with the solutions

So nearing the end of the rebuild, side seals, corner seals, water seals etc landed. Should have the car running by the end of the week.

I got an Rx8 rebuilt by shadow and it's still driving well.

                              Advice I can give...

Visit irishrotary.com , join Irish rotary Facebook group. Mazda are making some new rx7 parts now that they stopped making before.

Typically try to mix petrol with 2 stroke oil, particularly marine 2 stroke. Before you stop engine rev it hard to remove carbon build up. I do this when leaving motorway and give it a few minutes off motorway slow to cool down. It will then pass anything but a petrol station!

Rx7/8 tend to meet at backroads coffee n cars in Bray first Sunday of every month. See that page for photos from recent meets.

                                Thanks for the advice.
normally go to the cars and coffee meets and have been logged onto the various sites too.
Say hello next time at c&c
