  • Porsche GT4 - Another new car (Yes I have a problem)

I had great intentions of going for a "sensible" Porsche 911 (991 Shape), as it has ISOFIX back seats and a sensibl'ish car to bring the kid if required. So I went trawling the interwebs and after lots of searching figured it was not financially sensible to purchase in the UK or north with some of the figures people told me on VRT. So I started viewing down south.

No I had some clear wants, was only interested in S or GTS (997.2 or 991.1) with the NA engine and manual, Cars were very hard to find I started to even go looking at PDK's. I thought all was lost and will need to widen my search at the Turbo engined cars that came in all 991.2. So went and looked at a few and to be honest there was nothing wrong with them, even sounded good in when they had the sports exhaust.

Was at a dealer who I have bought a few Porches off and they know me well and what I liked, one of the guys said just try the GT4 and see what I think, all the GT3 Suspension, NA engine, Manual etc etc. I went and had a quick sit in it and just said no, it's not practical for the family needs and left it at that. However that evening went watching youtube and fell down that dreaded rabbit hole..............
So I called in when I had a bit of free time from the office and took it for a good test drive. Ohh the sound, the fantastic gearchange and the unbelievable stopping power of the Ceramic brakes. Bad thoughts started happening, I needed to go for a few pints and mull it over with my bad influence mate. Pint number 6 in I sent a text to Alan with an offer.

Call in the next day again and go for a longer test drive again, come back and have a chat with Conor who is telling me would be crazy to go for a 911 over the GT4 and just shooting the breeze, I'm then in for some negotiations and I leave with a deal done.

So just needed to get a few bits done before I take the car and have a tracker fitted for insurance, so will have it finally for Friday. Getting excited for collecting it and taking it for a good spin!

Kid approves and likes the driving position anyway! However the wife still thinks it has back seats............... Whoops

Now I'm called a bad influence mate?

Pot calling kettle, I sent a similar text to Deanes for my Porsche in the same pub with YOU.
Cheaper for us both to stop drinking pints.

The greatest plans have been devised in that pub however, it's the cars that are causing the problems

Gt4 looks to be the perfect all-rounder (apart from rear seats) for irish roads. Best of luck with it.

Brilliant. I love the logic and man maths progression. Great to see though in all the sea of fridges.
