  • Buchloe v8 wafter

After recently selling my 944s2 the plan was to not buy another car..... since your reading this you all know how that went.

So as I was not looking for a car the ear was always cocked and the donedeal app was completed several times, nearly pulled the trigger on a mates boxster until I was tagged by one of the lads in a messenger group asking "what's this worth" with these pictures...

His mate was thinking of selling his genuine Alpina B10 v8 and seem as a v8 was an itch I had wanted to scratch for a while I knew I had to take a look.

It has been officially off the road for years and used sparingly on garage plates but more recently it was sat up so when I went to view the car it was dusty, battery was flat and tyres are perished but was stored in a warm garage and it was screaming for some love.

The B10 starts life as a 540i and then transferred to Buchloe which is where all the M division cars were built and then Alpina works there magic, bringing it to 4.6 and increasing it to 347bhp. The car is number 647 which is one of 260 UK supplied alpina v8 B10's between 1997 and 2003 so properly rare and it's 1 of 7 UK cars in the individual velvet blue metallic.

The spec list is fairly impressive too with
    Champagne nappa leather
    Electric sun blinds
    M5 folding mirrors
    Xenon headlights
Electric and memory seats and steering wheel
Oldskool built in phone in armrest

So there's always a but and here are the bad bits apart from the road tax

Passenger side sill needs work as its a bit scabby towards the back and there's one or two tiny blisters on the lower section of the boot lid. After that it's mainly maintenance and preventative maintenance. Centre cap locks need some freeing up.

Here's a couple of pictures on collection, excuse the crappy pictures excitement levels were high but here she is

Cheers pretty smitten at the minute. Not going to do any miles until I have the tyres replaced and at least serviced then I'll be getting onto the preventative stuff.

Such a rare motor, great find. Would love to see it in the flesh sometime.

Absolutely brilliant and well done on the purchase. An Alpina in any shape or form is a wonderful car, they really set them up just right. I had seen it advertised some time ago when the guy I am guessing you bought from had bought it. I would love to see it in the metal some day. The best of luck with it and I am sure you will enjoy it. I have had a few Alpina’s too. Check out our BMW Classics Ireland Facebook page, we organise meets and get some other Alpina’s along too.

Nice. Auto or manual or did I miss that in the description?
Not familiar with the 944 story. Was it white or yellow (assuming that is it in your sig)

I remember it being advertised in early 21 too. It literally sat in the guys showroom since then and wasn't being used only on the occasional weekend. Yea I'll join up cheers for the heads up.

All v8 Alpinas are auto to my knowledge but stand to be corrected. On the 944 I bought it in lockdown and it sat for a couple of months before I got to work on it so ownership started off weird in them regards and as a result never fully gelled with the car. It was 99% complete with huge work being carried out on it but still swallowed a few bob to get it where I wanted it. Thankfully 944 prices worked in my favour and still made a tidy profit on it when it was sold for a very reasonable price as I was hunting for an elise which hasn't happened yet!

Here's what made room for the new car never posted about it here but was a gorgeous example and rare enough colour combo in white with the white leather and cobalt blue dash and trims. Probably my favourite part of ownership was standing looking at it..... they are very misunderstood cars but ultimately just didn't gel with it so it went to a great home so a win win.

Very nice! For someone who wasn't really looking you did well.

I don't think there is a 'but' required in your first post, that's very short list of 'bad bits' to sort.

Frist thing to change in my opinion is those plates, they make it look goofy in my opinion.

                      Enjoy!

Fabulous machine - well wear! Nice to see an Alpina out in the wild as they were getting thin on the ground

Cheers David really happy with it. In regards to the 'but' I doubt the list will stay that small once I start putting mileage on it but is to be expected with any older car. Plates are for the bin too it will have standard pressed plates once it hits the road.

New sill arrived too. Doesn't need the complete sill just a section around the rear jacking point but I wanted it to match the rest of the sill (even though it will be covered by a plastic cover)

Tyres ordered and hopefully fitted next week and then it's hopefully just servicing until I get a slot in the bodyshop.

Congrats on getting the keys to that lovely looking machine.
Its always great when you are in the right place at the right time and pick something like that up.

Also looking forward to seeing it in the metal in Dundalk C&C at some stage.

                            Best of luck with it.

Cheers, yea lovely feeling alright. Being in the motor trade myself I've missed out on some crackers over the years down to bad timing etc so nice when it works out. It will be there once I have it presentable.

Little bit of progress today got the centre cap locks cleaned and free'd and fit the caps which looks the business. Wheels are in good nick but caps have a little bit of corrosion so will do a wheel refurb in time. Don't mind the tyres getting replaced next week.

Cleaned the leather and fed it but looks like sections have been recoloured in the past so that's on now on the list too. I recoloured the seats in the 944 so doesn't bother me but will wait for the warmer weather before I tackle that. Leather itself is in good order so no rips etc. Not sure if all Alpinas have extended leather but it's everywhere, lower dash, steering column, lower section of the door panels. Really is a lovely place to sit.
