  • Triumph Speed Triple RR or Ducati V2 Troy Bayliss edition?

My motorcycling plan for 2022 was to sell my Triumph T120 and to replace it with a Triumph Speed triple RR but then I got to thinking about the Troy Bayliss edition of the Ducati Panigale V2 so now I am not sure which bike to pick.

The Troy Bayliss Ducati V2 is a numbered bike but it is not a limited edition so I assume they plan to sell as many as they can.

This has always been my main critique of the triple's. I like a bike that at the very least gets noticed. I am not sure I would give that bike a second glance if I saw one riding by.
      Guess it's the Ducati then.

      Or neither.

      Or both.

      How much for the Duck?

A new Trumpet RR is €23,825 or €24,125, depending on the colour.

Personally I would go with the Triumph, it's getting great reviews, it's more comfortable and usable than Panigale ale it looks great IMO, it's not a slow bike either. I'm yet to met anyone in Ireland who have a good opinion about Rosso Ducati and trust me you will have to deal with them a lot owning new Ducati.
Any car that merely takes you from A-B does not go far enough.

Is it not, effectively, the same crowd running both outlets though Mike?

It is. Probably down to the fact that you met more Duck owners than Triumph owners round here - hence the greater likelihood of tales of woe.

(Plus of course, Triumphs simply are better built - and don't tend to use the first batch of new model buyers as paying Beta testers )

Could be, my friend who brought his Multistrada for a service got Harley-Davidson stamp in his service book so there you have it.

My preference is the Triumph but that's mainly down to the assumption it is / will be the cheapest - other than that its a 50/50 between both bikes. I will probably have to take a street triple and a V2 for a test ride before I decide. ... and yes Rosso Ducati, Dublin Triumph, and Dublin Harley Davidson are all the one outfit but my dealings with them have been satisfactory so far.

But why limit your choices to a bike you said would have little presence on the road (and is stupidly expensive) and another, even more expensive bike, which you say has nothing going for it over the Triumph?

It's like you're trying to choose between a kick in the nuts or a proper shinning from a hurl.

                  Dafuq like?

Yes I suppose your right I will include the Kawasaki H2 SX SE+ (second hand) as well so too - at least I might use a touring bike for some touring.

What do either of them give you over the superior BMW S1000RR?

Just different toys to play with I suppose. I don't compare bikes on how fast or powerful they are its more a feel good factor and either a speed triple RR or a Panigale V2 or a Kawasaki SX SE+ would make me feel very good and any replacement for my beloved T120 would have to have a very high feel good factor to compensate for selling it.

Ducati Panigale V2 Troy Bayliss is a limited edition and what I would 100% go for, not sure you will get one though as I hear order book full which is typical of limited edition run.

                            Great investment long term too

Dealer is getting two in in January as dealer stock - ie: unsold and I am down for one of them pending getting a look at it. It is a numbered series but at present there is no limit to production until Ducati decide that's enough.
