  • 'Barn Find' 911 from DoneDeal

Evening all. I was at the Classic Le Mans last weekend and came back determined to own a 70s 911. Fast forward 48 hours and I was bidding on this:

I have not seen it. Barely have a description for it. However when HPI'ing it realised it was first registered on the day after I was born - I am a sucker for the emotive hook.

Back to being a 5 car family - more to follow when I get it to my specialist. Oh the car was last on the road in the late 90's.....

doesn't everyone yearn for a classic 911...looks pretty good for a barn find too. not sure id keep it white but interior looks nice...not just black. fair play + good luck

Wonderful! Car is in the UK, I presume? Have you someone lined up for the resto, or will you be tackling it yourself?
If they think you're crude, go technical; if they think you're technical, go crude. I'm a very technical boy.

That would be a great project. I've often thought about getting my teeth into one of these. The options are massive. Back date to a nice duck tailed 2.7 RS, Magnus Walker style, singer or just keep stock. The worlds your lobster on this one if you get it. The very best of luck if you do and would look forward to a resto thread on it.

Wicklow find off Done Deal. Off to Classic Carreras in Killaloe. Would live to get it mot ready as a rolling restoration. Assured engine and box fine but it last ran 7 years ago so will need some work to get running.

I know someone who went to look at this when it was advertised first. Just as he was about to buy, someone else showed up with more than the asking & outbid him. Was that your good self?
The lad called me for some advice when he was there but alas it wasn't to happen for him.

Will you be keeping it as a sportmatic? I like it in this colour, will you be keeping it white?
Lovely car man, enjoy the journey. It will only appreciate in value but the real joy will be in owning & driving it.

Magnus Walker's first 911 was a 76 - only 39 more to go! Would have loved a long nose pre 73 but also have a house build to fund. Car being collected on Friday - preparing for a first review sucking of teeth......
